The environment and values of the Heritage Listed town of Jarrahdale face a number of threats from forest logging, forest thinning in the Wungong catchment, the return of bauxite mining and the prolonged closure of Gooralong Park.
There have been a number of articles in our local papers and a public meeting convened by the Jarrahdale Heritage Society brought together over 90 people to hear how Jarrahdale could be affected. Speakers included concerned local residents as well as Beth Shultz from the Conservation Council and WA Forest Alliance and our MP Tony Simpson.
As a result of the meeting the Jarrahdale Forest Protectors have been formed to preserve our forest heritage. Find out more about the Jarrahdale Forest Protectors: www.saveourjarrah.com.au
